Adirondack Folk School in the News

Hearts for the Arts

Hearts for the Arts

Following a two-year hiatus, the Adirondack Folk School Hearts for the Arts Gala is back! Friends and supporters of the school will gather for hors d’oeuvres, dinner, our ever-popular Silent Auction and our annual Patron of the Arts honor on Friday evening, August 19, 2022.

The food and fun will take place at the iconic and beautifully restored Hitching Post Cafe located at 1256 Lake Ave. in Lake Luzerne, NY. The Cafe’s chef is planning to put an old-time dude ranch spin on the menu, including such favorites as Hummingbird Cake for dessert. Dinner choices are Prime Rib, Salmon with Dill Sauce, Rosemary Chicken, or Vegetarian Pot Pie. The event begins at 5:30 pm with a mingling hour and cash bar.

Tickets are $75 and may be purchased by calling the school at 518-696-2400.

Adirondack Craft Exhibit at the Sandy Hill Arts Center

Adirondack Craft Exhibit at the Sandy Hill Arts Center

This summer, the Adirondack Folk School will present an exhibit of artisan-made crafts in the third-floor gallery of the Hudson Falls Sandy Hill Arts Center. Through the artistry of local woodworkers, fiber artists, basket makers, blacksmiths, carvers, weavers and skilled crafters of other traditions, crafts reflecting the culture and history of our region will be on display and shared with our greater community.

Many of the show’s beautiful crafts are made by AFS instructors, and many represent classes given at the Folk School, which are open to all. The exhibit will also include a display of student work and demonstrations by master crafters.

The Adirondack Craft Exhibit will open with a reception on the evening of Saturday, August 6 and run through October 12. The Sandy Hill Arts Center is located at 214 Main St. in Hudson Falls, NY.
