Arnie Barsky

After retiring from a job as a materials engineer, Arnie started blacksmithing by attending classes at the Adirondack Folk School. He is currently working on his ABANA level 1 certification. Blacksmithing was something he always wanted to do after seeing blacksmiths ply their trade at Old Sturbridge Village, Colonial Williamsburg and other places. Arnie has been a volunteer at AFS for the past several years, assisting in the blacksmith shop and with Open Forge Nights. He started teaching beginning blacksmith and bladesmith classes a few years ago. Arnie specializes in bladesmithing and enjoys researching the metallurgy and history of the various knife styles he teaches.
