    This introductory class is geared toward beginner to intermediate photographers who wish to build a solid understanding of the foundations needed for improvement and success. Dave will share an intro slideshow of his work and a discussion on ethics, safety, subject knowledge and increasing your success rate. There will be a handout that covers discussion points of basic camera use, lens selection, composition and more. Discussion will also cover local shooting locations according to participants' interests along with questions from participants.

  • Sacred Union of Plant & Water

    Take a "trip in a cup" as we journey to India, via the principles behind teh Sacred Union of Plant and Water and the areomatic herbs and spices used to creat India's beverage of choice: Chai. We'll start thsi touch, smell, feel and taste workshop by breaking down and discussing the plant ingredients in Chai, their beneficial effects on the body and why it's such a perfect beverage for North Country living. Then we'll put our knowledge to work as we peel, chop and grind our way to creating a traditional Chai infusion from scratch. Once ready, we'll sip our Sacred Union and discuss the many differences between tea and plant infusions and the role they can play in your life. This class is a delightful journey for the senses and also includes a hands-on component where we will make and enjoy Chai tea! Class will also include an opportunity to make your own custom blend of Chai ingredients to replicate the process at home.

  • Woven Hanging Hearts

    Spend the morning crafting these lovely hanging hearts, sure to brighten your holiday decor or perfect for gift giving. The hearts are woven from hardwood maple splint and are hung from hand-dyed silk ribbon in various colors. Students will weave two large and two smaller hearts. These hearts can be filled with small items. Additional kits will be available for sale.

  • Introduction to Clay/Ceramics – Hand Building

    Clay arts has historical common traditions across all cultures. It is easy to shape, sculpt and transform into ceramics. Imagine making bowls, cups, wind chimes and more.... through the use of clay medium. This two-day workshop allows for experimentation in creating various forms (2-3 pieces per student). On day one students will learn basic hand-building pottery techniques; explore pinch, coil and slab. After a drying period of two weeks, on the second day students will learn how to decorate and glaze their piece.

  • Dovetailed Serving Tray

    With your own hands, craft a pine serving tray suitable for many things. Starting with wood prepared and cut to finished sizes, students will work on cutting and joining the sides and dovetail joints. Students will continue by gluing, sanding and cutting out the sides for the handle. The tray will be finished with a Danish oil.

  • Adirondack Painting

    In this class students will spend the evening creating their own rendition of an Adirondack scene guided by Patrice. This class is geared toward the beginning painter but is open to those of all artistic abilities. Students will use acrylic paints on an 8" x 10" canvas.

  • Stained Glass for Beginners

    In this workshop we will complete a small Tiffany style suncatcher, ornament, or flower. Students will be able to choose a pre-drawn pattern from a variety of designs and be guided as they learn to cut the glass (chosen from a variety of types and colors), smooth the glass pieces with a grinder, apply copper foil tape, solder the pieces together into the final piece using lead-free solder, and add jump rings or a copper wire stem. The patterns available will offer a variety of levels of difficulty so students may choose what best suits them.
