Mark Swanberry
Mark is a self-taught traditional folk artist. For 50 years he has been a stone mason by trade, but for the past 20 years he has also been a coppersmith craftsman/artist. His work has been shown and sold in galleries in Cooperstown, Catskill, Lake Placid, the Adirondack Museum, the NY Folklore Gallery in Schenectady, and the Adirondack Folk School. In September of 2020 Mark appeared on an episode of a PBS show called A House for Arts. He was commissioned by the Olympic Regional Development Authority to design and create awards and gifts for the 2024 Luge and 2025 Bobsled and Skeleton World Cup events in Lake Placid. For the past 5 years he has been an instructor for a variety of copper classes here at the Adirondack Folk School. Mark draws inspiration for his artwork from forms and patterns found in nature.
