Introduction to Marquetry- June 2026

We will explore the creation of a simple mountain motif, which allows for enormous variations in color, shape and texture. It is easily applied to any substrate to create boxes, wall hangings and jewelry, such as the brooch pictured or the thwart of your canoe. We will learn technique in this class and discuss many applications as well as creating a few simple brooches to take home.

Introduction to Scroll Saws- July 2026
$85.00 – $100.00Price range: $85.00 through $100.00The purpose of this course is to introduce the student who is interested in pursuing the hobby of working with the scroll saw to produce scroll work art for themselves. Their family, and their friends. The student will be introduced to the mechanics and the safe operation of the scroll saw. Students will be introduced to the many different saw blade types and cutting characteristics of each blade type to help in their selection of a blade for a particular piece of work. Additionally, students will receive instruction in three different methods of transferring a pattern to a piece of wood. Following this instruction, students will practice preparing the saw for safe operation followed by practicing the different movements required to successfully follow pattern lines while cutting a piece of wood. At the completion of the class, students will have completed a simple cat puzzle and a snowflake trivet using both exterior and interior cuts to remove material from the puzzle and the snowflake.

Make Your Own Adirondack Chair- May 2026
$370.00 – $420.00Price range: $370.00 through $420.00In 1903, the first Adirondack chair was built in the town of Westport, N.Y. and has since taken the world by storm. Its contoured seat and back, along with its wide arms make it the perfect chair for lounging in after a hard day's work. You will start with surfaced pine, cut the pieces, shape them on a router table, sand them and then assemble your own Adirondack chair. No prior woodworking experience is necessary but be prepared to use power tools.

Scroll Saw Christmas Ornaments- November 2026

Over the course of this day students will progress from making a simple wooden Christmas ornament to one requiring the skills you will have achieved during the day. The course will include instruction on the safe use of the power scroll saw, pattern transfer, the cutting of multiple ornaments using the stacking process and the process of making interior cuts in a piece of wood using a scroll saw. Appropriate for beginning woodworkers and those with some experience.

Students will then have the choice of welding their metal tube base together, or having Larry do it with student guidance on how they want it to look. Timber Framing- September 2026
$925.00 – $1,025.00Price range: $925.00 through $1,025.00Spend five unforgettable days learning the art of traditional timber framing – while building a woodshed of small cabin alongside a group of like-minded learners. This is a hands-on, team-based experience where you'll learn the skills to take on your own timber frame project with confidence. Using the square rule method – a traditional method developed in the early 1800s – you'll be guided through each step of cutting, fitting, and assembling a timber frame structure, from mortise and tenon joinery to raising the finished frame. This is a group class, designed to create a collaborative learning environment while still giving you plenty of direct guidance from the instructor, Nick, a seasoned timber framer and builder. Expect demos, instructing, and lots of hands-on time with tools. This course focuses on traditional timber framing techniques using only hand tools and human power. Whether you're dreaming of a backyard shed, tiny cabin, or just want to understand how old-school builders worked with big timbers and simple tools – this course gives you a solid foundation. No previous timber framing experience is required. This course is beginner friendly, but also valuable for folks with some carpentry experience. Wooden Chair Repair- September 2026

Students can bring their wooden chairs of almost any type and with some guidance, bring them back to new life. Chairs will be completely disassembled, cleaned of any old glue and reglued. Students should bring a wooden chair without upholstery that is loose or partially loose.
