Rainbow Bundle: Natural Dyeing

This workshop is a great intro to natural dyeing and participants will create a wearable rainbow with the colors of the Adirondacks. Children 8 sand up can participate with a parent, or 15 and up with parent permission.

Spinning Yarn from Wool
Adirondack Folk School 51 Main St., Lake Luzerne, NY, United StatesJanet's woven items often start with unique one-of-a-kind hand spun yarns. Spend an evening and see how she starts with wool from a variety of sheep and adds some bamboo or sparkle to create a blend of fiber to spin into thick or thin single ply yarn. After spinning again, a simple yarn is created, or texture and coils can be added to create an "art yarn" that looks wonderful when used to weave or knit.

Visible Mending

Medicinal Herbs for Protection & Prevention
Adirondack Folk School 51 Main St., Lake Luzerne, NY, United StatesHerbal plants for colds, the flu and allergies have stood the test of time. They help prevent an imbalance, they help your immune system cope with illness, they give relief for various symptoms and help with recovery. During this program, Lise will discuss what specific plants and remedies work for particular symptoms. Participants will learn to interpret the language of herbalism to understand how plants work in the body. There will be demonstrations of the correct way to prepare herbal plants and remedies and discussion of proper dosage of herbal preparations.

ADK Wildlife Rehabilitation
Adirondack Folk School 51 Main St., Lake Luzerne, NY, United StatesDuring this evening program, Diane will talk a little about wildlife rehabilitation and share some interesting facts about helping our native wildlife. She will also bring along four Non-Releasable Ambassadors: three different owl species + a Red Tailed Hawk. All of which are indigenous to the Adirondacks. We will discuss their stories & you will gain some very interesting facts about these amazing birds, that we are so lucky to have in our own backyards.
