  • Wooden Chair Repair

    If you've got an old chair at your house that could use a little TLC this is the class for you. Students can bring their wooden chairs of almost any type and with some guidance, bring them back to new life. Chairs will be completely disassembled, cleaned of any old glue and reglued. Students should bring a wooden chair without upholstery that is loose or partially loose.

  • Scroll Saw Baskets

    There is something intriguing about a wooden basket made using a scroll saw. These baskets make great gifts and conversation pieces. During the course of a day the student will progress from learning the basics in the operation of a scroll saw, saw safety, pattern transfer methods, basic cutting skills to the completion of at least two different style wooden baskets. This class is appropriate for beginning woodworkers with an interest in picking up a skill that can translate into a lifetime passion.

  • Handcarved Bowl or Cup

    Using only hand tools, students will learn to carve their own bowl or cup. Using the natural shapes, colors and curves of the wood, students will create a unique piece that reflects the beauty of the natural world.

  • Side Table

    This class will cover both woodworking and welding skills. Live edge slab tops will be cut and sanded. Students will then have the choice of welding their metal tube base together, or having Larry do it with student guidance on how they want it to look. The top will be added to the newly welded base to finish this truly unique side table.

  • Introduction to Woodburning

    You don't have to be an artist to create wood burned art. This introduction to wood burning, also known as pyrography, will teach you how to create your own unique artwork. We will cover all the basics: safety, burners, tips, transferring images, wood species, adding color and protective finishes. Resources will also be shared for continued learning after class completion. In class, students will try out various tips to see what each is capable of. Students will then have the opportunity to work on up to three projects of nature or Adirondack inspired images.

  • Scroll Saw Christmas Ornaments

    There's nothing like the beauty of the winter season in the Adirondacks! Make a holiday ornament for yourself or your loved ones. Over the course of this day students will progress from making a simple wooden Christmas ornament to one requiring the skills you will have achieved during the day. The course will include instruction on the safe use of the power scroll saw, pattern transfer, the cutting of multiple ornaments using the stacking process and the process of making interior cuts in a piece of wood using a scroll saw. Appropriate for beginning woodworkers and those with some experience.
