Double-Bottomed Bushel Basket

This is a great class for a first-time weaver, as well as for those who would like to learn some new weave patterns to create a unique piece. A variety of techniques will be discussed, including arrow weave and four-rod wale, as well as the use of color to create pattern. Students will begin by weaving a double-bottomed twined base. As they weave up the sides with the stop-start method, students may then choose to incorporate a variety of color and pattern which interests them. The basket is finished with a pair of leather handles made during class. With a double-bottomed base, this is a very sturdy and functional basket, as well as uniquely yours. Dimensions approx. 10" diameter, 8" high.

Winter Weaving – Chenille Scarf

Want to try out weaving on a floor loom? This class starts with a loom all set up and ready to go - no prior weaving experience is needed! Keep the winter chill away with a scarf you weave yourself. Each class will include an introduction to the loom and instruction on how to operate it. Several color choices will be available. You'll be weaving away in no time!

Hardwood Spoon Carving

In this class students will design, shape and carve a serving spoon. Skills explored include: making a template and transferring it to a blank, carving and shaping the bowl and back of the spoon, use of hand tools such as gouges, scrapers, coping saws, and spokeshaves, and sanding and finishing techniques. Students will leave class with a beautiful handcrafted hardwood spoon to use in their own kitchens or to give as a gift!

Adirondack Painting

In this class students will spend the evening creating their own rendition of an Adirondack scene guided by Patrice. This class is geared toward the beginning painter but is open to those of all artistic abilities. Students will use acrylic paints on an 8" x 10" canvas.

AFS Sewing Circle

Quilters, knitters, and fiber artists alike are welcome to join us every month for an afternoon of quilting and camaraderie. Rustic Furniture: Sofa or Coffee Table

All you need to create a true rustic living room is to complement your Rustic End Table with an Adirondack Sofa or Coffee Table. Learn traditional furniture making while using materials found in this region: Birch bark, twigs, logs and more. You will be guided from start to finish and in the process, you will learn about material selection, basic joinery and the use of hand tools including Japanese saw, wood chisels, jigs and others. This will be a fun and intensive class and you will leave with a fine sofa or coffee table suitable for your "Great Camp" or home.

Weaving 101: Introduction to Weaving on a Floor Loom

Students will learn to weave through instruction and hands on experience! Students will learn about equipment, terminology, and the procee of weaving, including planning, winding a warp, dressing a loom, weaving and finishing. Students will make a sampler of plain and twill weaves. No prior look experience needed.

Introduction to Clay/Ceramics – Hand Building

Clay arts has historical common traditions across all cultures. It is easy to shape, sculpt and transform into ceramics. Imagine making bowls, cups, wind chimes and more.... through the use of clay medium. This two-day workshop allows for experimentation in creating various forms (2-3 pieces per student). On day one students will learn basic hand-building pottery techniques; explore pinch, coil and slab. After a drying period of two weeks, on the second day students will learn how to decorate and glaze their piece.
