Copper Pine Branch Wall Hanging

Create your own pine branch wall hanging with vines, leaves, and pinecones. Different size pipe will be pounded and textured on an anvil to make the branches and vines. The leaves and cones will be made from sheet copper, then textured. This class will also involve some soldering. The finished piece will be approximately 25" by 17".

Plant Identification & Creating an Herbarium

We live in a very diverse area here in the Adirondacks. There are so many medicinal herbal plants that grow in the wild. We will seek out the common medicinal herbal plants that grow in our area and take cuttings to create a simple Herbarium which helps remember the plants that we have identified. Lise will discuss how the plants are used and their impact on wellness. We will also cover popular herbal garden plants that grow well here in the Adirondacks.

Nantucket Style Vase

Create a vase inspired by traditional Nantucket baskets. Students will weave using dyed and natural rattan reed to create a gorgeous vase with a wooden rim and base. A mold insert is provided to hold water for the various flowers that will grace this vase! The finished piece will be approximately 8? tall and 4.25? wide at the top. This is a great class for all skill levels.

Rustic Inlaid Pendant

In this two-day course students will create their own rustic but elegant piece of jewelry using precut pieces of local Adirondack hemlock and pine, as well as shell dots, metal wire and various other items to inlay. With guidance from the instructor, students will be able to follow their own creative vision to create a unique piece of jewelry.

Introduction to Woodburning

You don't have to be an artist to create wood burned art. This introduction to wood burning, also known as pyrography, will teach you how to create your own unique artwork. We will cover all the basics: safety, burners, tips, transferring images, wood species, adding color and protective finishes. Resources will also be shared for continued learning after class completion. In class, students will try out various tips to see what each is capable of. Students will then have the opportunity to work on up to three projects of nature or Adirondack inspired images.

This small Nantucket Ornament starts with a walnut rim, and is built up with cane spokes and weavers. Students may add a small mirror or photo to the center to personalize their piece. This ornament hangs from a small hook, making it the perfect project to add to your holiday collection. Please note: Students will be working with small pieces to shape and sand.
