Basic forms will be explored and a beautiful study board is kept for future reference. A must for anyone interested in learning both the basics and the finer points of carving.   • More Silver Metal Clay Exploration 2

    If you have taken one or more classes using silver metal clay and are interested in discovering more about the many uses for metal clay, this may be the class for you! The class is focused on learning techniques typically not covered in introductory classes but are useful to metal clay jewelry makers. We will focus on the topics listed of greatest interest to those enrolled. Additional topics may be included with advance notice and time available. Potential Topis: Making simple ear wire, adding dimension, makings simple hollow lentil beads, rolling techniques for perfect textures, preventing and fixing problems such as cracking and warping, how to join pieces of metal clay/dry construction, more information about Metal Clay Silver.

  • Chenille Scarf

    Want to try out weaving on a floor loom? This class starts with a loom all set up and ready to go - no prior weaving experience is needed! Keep the winter chill away with a scarf you weave yourself. Each class will include an introduction to the loom and instruction on how to operate it. Several color choices will be available. You'll be weaving away in no time!

  • Copper Embossing

    Learn the discipline of Metal Working known as Embossing. Students will transfer an image of their choosing from a paper template to a sheet of copper by using various sizes of stylus and other hand tools to create a textured picture. Students will find that copper is a very workable material. Your finished piece will fit in with any Adirondack decor or even in a rustic birch frame! This piece is 8" x 8?.

  • Mosaic Ornament

    In this class students will create a beautiful mosaic ornament to hang in a window, outside, or use as a holiday ornament. Students will be using reflective glass and mirror to make ornaments that are fun and sparkly! Additionally, we will learn how to design the ornament and how to use mosaic tools and adhesives.

  • Braided Rim Basket

    This tabletop basket is woven in the plain weave method and has a solid bottom. It incorporates a "chain weave", woven with dyed round reed in a choice of colors. The basket is finished with a braided and scalloped rim, woven with matching dyed reed. A choice of a ceramic accent embellishes the basket in coordinating colors.

  • Hard Aged Cheeses

    Taught by internationally awarded cheesemaker Sheila Flanagan, this hands-on course explores the art and science behind crafting hard and aged cheeses. Students will learn the fundamentals of milk chemistry, culture selection, curd handling, pressing, and aging techniques that shape the flavor and texture of hard cheeses. Sheila will guide participants through each step — while explaining how small changes can create big differences in the final cheese. Perfect for both experienced cheesemakers and beginners who want to learn more about the cheesemaking process and gain confidence working with aged styles.

  • Woodturning: Holiday Ornaments

    Tis the season to start thinking about holiday ornaments! Come create your own whimsical free-form ornaments. We will also work with color and decoration. You'll be amazed by your own creations - and how lovely they'll look hung in your home. A wonderful class for beginning turners.

  • Side Table

    This class will cover both woodworking and welding skills. Live edge slab tops will be cut and sanded. Students will then have the choice of welding their metal tube base together, or having Larry do it with student guidance on how they want it to look. The top will be added to the newly welded base to finish this truly unique side table.
