Adirondack Dulcimer Making- November 2026
Price range: $570.00 through $660.00Drawing from over 30 years of fine instrument making, Martin Macica will share his knowledge of the principles and practice of dulcimer making, leading participants through the process of making their own dulcimer from scratch using hand tools. This intensive course will cover every aspect of dulcimer making, including the carving of the scroll. Participants will leave with a working knowledge of dulcimer making, and a handcrafted instrument ready for a lifetime of making music.

Balsam Fir Pillow Trees- November 2026
Price range: $150.00 through $175.00In this class we'll be stitching aromatic balsam pillows in the shape of evergreen trees. Using balsam fir needles, plaids, and glass beads, we'll create three different pillows inspired by the raised beadwork of the Tuscarora people and the rich history of balsam fir use in the Adirondacks. These are great for use in a dresser, car, or anywhere would enjoy the fragrance! Pillows are approximately 5" in height. No prior experience or sewing machine required.

Beginning Bluegrass Banjo- October 2026
Price range: $70.00 through $85.00Bluegrass banjo is the familiar sound that drove such favorites as the Beverly Hillbillies Theme Song, Rocky Top and Foggy Mountain Breakdown. In this class you will learn enough about the banjo so that you can use a variety of available instructional aids from your home and progress with learning Bluegrass banjo at your own pace. You will be exposed to the basics of playing 5-string Bluegrass banjo, including tunings, left hand chord shapes, right hand rolls, vamping, hammer-ons, pull-offs, chokes, chimes and how to read tablatures. We'll also look at online sites about banjo practice and instruction.

Beginning Spinning- November 2026
Price range: $135.00 through $160.00Spinning, the ancient art of twisting fibers to make yarn or thread, still thrives today, and this workshop will show you how to bring its magic into your own creative practice. In this workshop, you will learn how to spin wool using spindles and a spinning wheel and hear stories and folklore about spinning while you practice. You will learn the basics of spinning, how to work with the properties of wool, and how to ply and finish the yarn you have spun. No experience is necessary.

Blacksmithing 117: Forge Welding Basics, Fire Poker & Chain Links- October 2026

Braided Rim Basket- November 2026
Price range: $155.00 through $180.00This tabletop basket is woven in the plain weave method and has a solid bottom. It incorporates a "chain weave", woven with dyed round reed in a choice of colors. The basket is finished with a braided and scalloped rim, woven with matching dyed reed. A choice of a ceramic accent embellishes the basket in coordinating colors.

Chip Carved Ornaments or Coasters- November 2026

Copper Embossing- October 2026
Price range: $120.00 through $135.00Learn the discipline of Metal Working known as Embossing. Students will transfer an image of their choosing from a paper template to a sheet of copper by using various sizes of stylus and other hand tools to create a textured picture. Copper Lanterns- October 2026
Price range: $215.00 through $240.00Create your own copper Lantern on a Bluestone base. You will punch and shape the copper sides and top and attach them to a stone base. The Lantern features a glass drop ,soldered into the 3 sides of the lantern. The punched holes and glass create a pleasant appearance when lit with a candle. Create Your Own Hardwood Cutting Board- November 2026
Price range: $195.00 through $220.00Come create a beautiful 12"-18" hardwood cutting board during two, half-day sessions. The class will discuss the types of wood being used, such as sapele, purple heart, African cherry and hard maple. The wood will be cut to size on a table saw. Then, using a joiner, students will make sure all pieces are the same size before gluing the various pieces together and allowing them to dry overnight. On the second day, the class will use planers to ensure that all boards are level and the same thickness. Students will then use a router to create a well and handles. Finally, the boards will be sanded.

Dovetailed Serving Tray- December 2026
Price range: $285.00 through $335.00With your own hands, craft a pine serving tray suitable for many things. Starting with wood prepared and cut to finished sizes, students will work on cutting and joining the sides and dovetail joints. Students will continue by gluing, sanding and cutting out the sides for the handle. The tray will be finished with a Danish oil.

Fall Lakes and Waterways at Dawn Photo Tour- October 2026
Price range: $210.00 through $220.00Here's your chance to grab gorgeous sunrise shots. In this one-day nature photography tour you will travel to several destinations that are all within a reasonable distance of each other. You'll spend 90% of the day shooting pictures at beautiful nearby Adirondack lakes and waterways. This nature photography tour is designed for those who are already comfortable with camera basics such as the relationship between aperture, shutter and ISO settings. Start this eight-hour day with a very brief discussion, then take the rest of the day to play with photo techniques in the field at nearby photo locations. A great class for those who wish to receive mentoring while in the field.

From Fleece to Yarn- November 2026
Price range: $385.00 through $460.00Wool is a versatile ecological material for knitting, felting, and weaving, but processing it can be a bit tricky for a beginner. In this workshop, you will learn how to work with wool starting with raw fleece straight off the sheep and ending with handspun yarn ready to be incorporated into your craft projects. If you have your own raw wool that you want to process or tools that you want to try out, please bring them! We will play with wool from a variety of sheep breeds, including some rare heritage breeds, and we?ll learn how to use their different qualities to create the perfect materials for your projects. You will learn how to use different wool processing tools like hand cards, wool combs, and a drum carder. If you like starting with natural materials and seeing them through to the finished product, this is a great workshop for you!

Hanging Hardwood Splint Snowflake- December 2026
Price range: $95.00 through $110.00Students will weave these striking snowflakes from hardwood maple and cherry wood splint. Several patterns may be woven, depending on the chosen splint. Students will weave one large 10" diameter snowflake, and two smaller 7" snowflakes, which make a beautiful grouping hung together on a tree or in a window. Hard Aged Cheeses- November 2026

Hardwood Spoon Carving- December 2026

Skills explored include: making a template and transferring it to a blank, carving and shaping the bowl and back of the spoon, use of hand tools such as gouges, scrapers, coping saws, and spokeshaves, and sanding and finishing techniques. Introduction to Woodburning- November 2026

This introduction to wood burning, also known as pyrography, will teach you how to create your own unique artwork. We will cover all the basics: safety, burners, tips, transferring images, wood species, adding color and protective finishes. Mountains & Waterways Leather Pendant & Earring Set- October 2026
Price range: $185.00 through $210.00Inspired from camping, hiking and kayaking in the Adirondacks, we'll be making "Mountains" or "Waterways" leather pendant necklace and earring sets in this class. After selecting a design, students will learn various leather craft techniques, including but not limited to, cutting, stamping, dyeing, and antiquing. Additionally. We'll add bead "cairns" to our jewelry using notable stones found in the Adirondacks. To complete the set, we'll add leather cord with silver plated findings and sterling silver ear wires. Pendant sizes are approximately 2 5/8" tall for teardrop and 2" diameter for circle.

Nuno Felt Neck Gaiter- December 2026
Price range: $175.00 through $195.00Join Marjolaine in this 1-day class to create a nuno felt neck gaiter you can wear different ways. Perfect for skiing or playing in the snow! During this workshop you will explore the technique of nuno felt, a wet felting process combining silk fabric and wool roving. The felting is accomplished by applying water, soap, and friction. In this class you will learn to make a resist for your pattern and make a seamless piece made with silk fabric and merino wool roving. discover various wool layouts, and decorate with pieces of silk fabric and various fibers like bamboo and silk.

Overshot Weaving: Lee's Surrender- October 2026
Price range: $280.00 through $330.00This is a weave structure well known to weavers and Lee's Surrender is a beautiful example of the structure. Overshot requires two shuttles and a bit more concentration to complete. The instructor will demonstrate the step by step process and help you to understand the pattern. Perfect Pictures Every Time- October 2026
Price range: $210.00 through $220.00Understanding photography basics is the key to taking control of your camera and knowing you got the shot when you were taking it. If you would like to take your skill level from shooting in Auto to having full control over your camera, this intensive class is for you! A step-by-step PowerPoint presentation helps teach the basic principles of photography including: camera options and set-up, peripheral equipment, image exposure and histograms, and will touch on shooting for HDR and working with motion, depth of field, and composition. The class is paced to allow time for questions and interaction, with about half of the day in the classroom experimenting with the cameras, and the other half spent in the field, practicing camera techniques and shooting options. A comprehensive handout will include all the major points covered in the presentation. While the class instruction is mostly landscape based, these techniques and principles can be applied to all photographic situations.

Rug Hooking: Moon Over the Mountain- November 2026

This class is suitable for beginners, but a little more challenging than the Quail Rug Hooking class in April, due to color value decisions the rug hooker must make. Rugs from Rags- October 2026
Price range: $85.00 through $105.00No weaving experience is necessary! You will be making a Rag Rug using recycled fabric. Many colors and designs of fabrics will be available for you to choose from. The looms are dressed and ready to go: all you need to do is bring your creative spirit and you will leave with a finished one-of-a-kind rug that you have designed and woven yourself. Your rug will be 24" wide and can be up to 45" long.

Saori Scarf Weaving- November 2026
Price range: $160.00 through $185.00Saori Weaving is a freestyle form of weaving. The colors and textures of the yearn are the star of this scarf. In this class you will learn to weave plain weave and a technique known as clasp weft weaving. Hand spun smooth and textured yarns created by the instructor will be included in the class materials. You will complete a 54? scarf with fringe. If you have yarn in your personal stash you are welcome to bring it along to add to your scarf.

Scroll Saw Christmas Ornaments- November 2026
Price range: $130.00 through $155.00There's nothing like the beauty of the winter season in the Adirondacks! Make a holiday ornament for yourself or your loved ones. Over the course of this day students will progress from making a simple wooden Christmas ornament to one requiring the skills you will have achieved during the day. The course will include instruction on the safe use of the power scroll saw, pattern transfer, the cutting of multiple ornaments using the stacking process and the process of making interior cuts in a piece of wood using a scroll saw. Appropriate for beginning woodworkers and those with some experience.

Side Table- November 2026
Price range: $340.00 through $390.00This class will cover both woodworking and welding skills. Live edge slab tops will be cut and sanded. Students will then have the choice of welding their metal tube base together, or having Larry do it with student guidance on how they want it to look. Stained Glass for Beginners- November 2026
Price range: $95.00 through $110.00In this workshop we will complete a small Tiffany style suncatcher. Students will be able to choose a pre-drawn pattern from a variety of designs and be guided as they learn to cut the glass (chosen from a variety of types and colors), smooth the glass pieces with a grinder, apply copper foil tape, solder the pieces together into the final piece using lead-free solder, apply patina (optional), and add jump rings or a stained glass stand.

Traditional Herbal Practice: Wildcrafting-Plants of Winter- December 2026
Price range: $105.00 through $120.00As the Winter Solstice nears, a blanket of silence covers the natural world. Each turning of the year's wheel inspires us to pause, listen, observe & learn. So, let's attune ourselves to what Winter is offering. We will take a look at the energy of the plant world while connecting the dots to the many ways in which human and animal respond in kind. In this class we will head outdoors to harvest in the wild and take what we receive back into the classroom. Based on what's in our baskets, we'll use traditional extraction method practices to get the beneficial compounds out of the plants and into our bodies. In this make and take experience, you can expect to go home with two herbal preparations based on supporting our wellness needs as we enter into the dark and cold months to come. In this class we will be seeking to harvest plants which support the upper respiratory system, as well as working with other plants that increase heat, chi and nourishment. While it's impossible to predict "who" will be available for us to work with, what I can share is that in past winter classes we've made: Tinctures, Herbal Electuaries, Warming/Circulatory Support Infusions, Methods for working with Dried plant material, Herbal Infused Chocolate Truffles.
