In this one-day nature photography tour you will travel to several destinations that are all within a reasonable distance of each other. You'll spend 90% of the day shooting pictures at beautiful nearby Adirondack lakes and waterways. Start this eight-hour day with a very brief discussion, then take the rest of the day to play with photo techniques in the field at nearby photo locations. Finishing Touches for the Handweaver- October 2026

Forging a Chef's Knife- July 2026
Price range: $330.00 through $370.00This class is taught by renowned instructor and the very first winner of History Channel's Forged in Fire, Matthew Parkinson. The chef's knife is the most used knife in almost any home. These iconic knives help to create meals for family and loved ones. Well-made kitchen knives can last a lifetime and this class will give you the opportunity to create one of your very own. In this two-day class students will make their own chef's knife from high carbon steel. All aspects of bladesmithing will be covered, from forging the blade to shaping, then heat treating, grinding, and polishing, making and fitting a wooden handle and finally, sharpening – with very special attention given to the design and geometry of this kind of knife. This class is intended as an introductory bladesmithing class, but some forging experience is helpful.

From Fleece to Yarn- November 2026
Price range: $385.00 through $460.00Wool is a versatile ecological material for knitting, felting, and weaving, but processing it can be a bit tricky for a beginner. In this workshop, you will learn how to work with wool starting with raw fleece straight off the sheep and ending with handspun yarn ready to be incorporated into your craft projects. If you have your own raw wool that you want to process or tools that you want to try out, please bring them! We will play with wool from a variety of sheep breeds, including some rare heritage breeds, and we?ll learn how to use their different qualities to create the perfect materials for your projects. You will learn how to use different wool processing tools like hand cards, wool combs, and a drum carder. If you like starting with natural materials and seeing them through to the finished product, this is a great workshop for you!

Hanging Hardwood Splint Snowflake- December 2026
Price range: $95.00 through $110.00Students will weave these striking snowflakes from hardwood maple and cherry wood splint. Several patterns may be woven, depending on the chosen splint. Hard Aged Cheeses- November 2026

Harp Making- August 2026
Price range: $580.00 through $630.00Come build a Paraguayan harp. This harp is characterized by a large soundbox with a rounded base, very light weight, closely-spaced light tension strings (usually nylon), a relatively flat harmonic curve, and with the strings running up through the center of the neck, which are tuned with gear-style tuners (like a guitar). Almost all harps of this style are played with the fingernails, in very rhythmically intricate music. This is the national instrument of Paraguay, and is commonly found throughout South America, Central America and in parts of Mexico. Students will be using tools from the past and today, to fashion an instrument that will last a lifetime. After this class you may even want to learn to play your beautiful new harp!

Herbal Oils Liniments & Poultices- July 2026
Price range: $80.00 through $95.00In the morning there will be discussion and demonstration of the different methods of making herbal oils. We will make an Herbal Bug Repellent Oil and a drawing Liniment from plants that grow in the instructor's medicinal garden. We will discuss various methods of using Herbal Poultices and learn about the plants that work as healing herbals oils. Learn about Plantain, Comfrey, Jewelweed, Calendula, Yarrow, St, John's Wort, and Solomon Seal and how, when to use them. The instructor will demo how to turn the oils into a salve. Echinacea will be in bloom and we will make an Echinacea Tincture. There will be discussion of making herbal tinctures and students will learn which plants work well as tinctures.

Intro to the Japanese Blade- October 2026

Introduction to Gouache Painting- July 2026
Price range: $140.00 through $165.00Join artist Takeyce Walter for a day of painting along the beautiful Hudson River. In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the expressive possibilities of gouache?a versatile, water-based medium perfect for capturing the changing light, color, and atmosphere of the Adirondack landscape. Introduction to Scroll Saws- July 2026
Price range: $85.00 through $100.00The purpose of this course is to introduce the student who is interested in pursuing the hobby of working with the scroll saw to produce scroll work art for themselves. Their family, and their friends. The student will be introduced to the mechanics and the safe operation of the scroll saw. Students will be introduced to the many different saw blade types and cutting characteristics of each blade type to help in their selection of a blade for a particular piece of work. Additionally, students will receive instruction in three different methods of transferring a pattern to a piece of wood. Following this instruction, students will practice preparing the saw for safe operation followed by practicing the different movements required to successfully follow pattern lines while cutting a piece of wood. At the completion of the class, students will have completed a simple cat puzzle and a snowflake trivet using both exterior and interior cuts to remove material from the puzzle and the snowflake.

Introduction to Woodburning- November 2026
Price range: $133.00 through $158.00You don't have to be an artist to create wood burned art. This introduction to wood burning, also known as pyrography, will teach you how to create your own unique artwork. We will cover all the basics: safety, burners, tips, transferring images, wood species, adding color and protective finishes. Resources will also be shared for continued learning after class completion. In class, students will try out various tips to see what each is capable of. Students will then have the opportunity to work on up to three projects of nature or Adirondack inspired images.

Junior Adirondack Pack Basket- June 2026
Price range: $192.00 through $224.00The Junior Pack is a small decorative version of a traditional Adirondack Pack basket. This is a great size for a gift or mail basket. Multiple techniques used to include plain weave, continuous weave, scarfing weaver, and tapering the weaver. Linda will guide you with shaping as you weave to form the belly in the front while maintaining a straight back and sides. Complete with a hardwood handle, fitting the rim to fit the basket and lashing. The finishing touch; a webbing or leather harness made by Linda. Dimensions: 6" x 8" x 10" high. Instructor will bring all materials to make the basket. Leather harness is dark brown. Webbing harness color choices will be the colors available at time of class. Leather & Cowhide Valet Tray- July 2026
Price range: $155.00 through $170.00This is an introductory class where students will learn leathercraft basics, as well as how to use various tools and techniques including, but not limited to, cutting, edge beveling and burnishing, grooving, setting hardware, and letter stamping. Lino Lab: Print Your Imagination- August 2026
$10.00After heading outdoors to gather some natural materials for inspiration, you'll create a drawing of your object that will be then transferred onto a linoleum printing plate. You'll carve your design using Speedball cutters, creating a unique stamp that can be used for whatever you can imagine. Once your design is carved, you'll create a simple journal to ink your newly carved stamp onto.

Medicinal Herbs for Protection & Prevention- September 2026
$25.00Herbal plants for colds, the flu and allergies have stood the test of time. They help prevent an imbalance, they help your immune system cope with illness, they give relief for various symptoms and help with recovery. During this program, Lise will discuss what specific plants and remedies work for particular symptoms. Mountain Gathering Basket- June 2026
Price range: $160.00 through $185.00This basket is woven on a pre-stained round oak base and employs continuous chase weave to build the sides. Students will learn the process for determining the number of spokes needed for continuous weave and be challenged and excited to watch their baskets grow with two weavers. Students will make their own leather handles in class, which incorporate into the rim. This rustically graceful and functional basket is woven on a 6" base which grows into a 12" diameter basket. The basket measures 10" high at the sides.
