Exploring Mosaics- August 2026
Price range: $225.00 through $265.00What inspires you? Nearly anything can be depicted in mosaics – flowers, birds, numbers, a special word, or a favorite scene. Create small masterpieces while extending (or beginning) your knowledge of this medium, which has been used to make long-lasting artworks for thousands of years! In this class, you can make an imaginative house number on a waterproof backing board or a multi-colored mosaic image on luaun plywood (various shapes to choose from). Bring your idea or sketch along to this workshop, and capture your image in tile, stone and glass… to create a colorful artwork that will enhance your home for years to come. Beginner to experienced artists welcome! Students will utilize brightly colored glass tiles, stained glass, seashells and pebbles. (Bring a couple of permanent items to add to your project, if you'd like!) Kate has all the "tesserae", tools and expertise you'll need to shape your pieces and secure them to a background with mortar or glue, which will comprise our first day of work. Day two will be a shorter day, grouting and admiring your finished piece, which will be ready to take home! Artist Kate Hartley, who created the North Creek Mosaic Project Mural with over 2000 volunteers, will guide you in bringing your own vision into mosaic form. She's been teaching visual arts to people of all ages for four decades, and delights in encouraging individual expression in artists of all experience levels.

Fall Lakes and Waterways at Dawn Photo Tour- October 2026

In this one-day nature photography tour you will travel to several destinations that are all within a reasonable distance of each other. You'll spend 90% of the day shooting pictures at beautiful nearby Adirondack lakes and waterways. This nature photography tour is designed for those who are already comfortable with camera basics such as the relationship between aperture, shutter and ISO settings. Start this eight-hour day with a very brief discussion, then take the rest of the day to play with photo techniques in the field at nearby photo locations. Finishing Touches for the Handweaver- October 2026

Forging a Chef's Knife- July 2026
Price range: $330.00 through $370.00This class is taught by renowned instructor and the very first winner of History Channel's Forged in Fire, Matthew Parkinson. The chef's knife is the most used knife in almost any home. These iconic knives help to create meals for family and loved ones. Well-made kitchen knives can last a lifetime and this class will give you the opportunity to create one of your very own. In this two-day class students will make their own chef's knife from high carbon steel. All aspects of bladesmithing will be covered, from forging the blade to shaping, then heat treating, grinding, and polishing, making and fitting a wooden handle and finally, sharpening – with very special attention given to the design and geometry of this kind of knife. This class is intended as an introductory bladesmithing class, but some forging experience is helpful.

Forging Square Head Dividers- May 2026
Price range: $320.00 through $360.00In this course each student will get a chance to forge their own set of dividers based on 18th century designs. These tools would have traditionally been used to trace and chart out patterns as well as calculate size or distance. This is a helpful tool for any traditional wood or metal worker and would be an excellent additional to any tool chest. This class will involve forge welding and hand filing. It is recommended that students taking this course have some basic working knowledge of blacksmithing (how to operate a forge, using hand tools, etc.). Prior forge welding experience is not required.

From Fleece to Yarn- November 2026
Price range: $385.00 through $460.00Wool is a versatile ecological material for knitting, felting, and weaving, but processing it can be a bit tricky for a beginner. In this workshop, you will learn how to work with wool starting with raw fleece straight off the sheep and ending with handspun yarn ready to be incorporated into your craft projects. If you have your own raw wool that you want to process or tools that you want to try out, please bring them! We will play with wool from a variety of sheep breeds, including some rare heritage breeds, and we?ll learn how to use their different qualities to create the perfect materials for your projects. You will learn how to use different wool processing tools like hand cards, wool combs, and a drum carder. If you like starting with natural materials and seeing them through to the finished product, this is a great workshop for you!

Hanging Hardwood Splint Snowflake- December 2026

Hard Aged Cheeses- November 2026

Harp Making- August 2026
Price range: $580.00 through $630.00Come build a Paraguayan harp. This harp is characterized by a large soundbox with a rounded base, very light weight, closely-spaced light tension strings (usually nylon), a relatively flat harmonic curve, and with the strings running up through the center of the neck, which are tuned with gear-style tuners (like a guitar). Almost all harps of this style are played with the fingernails, in very rhythmically intricate music. This is the national instrument of Paraguay, and is commonly found throughout South America, Central America and in parts of Mexico. Students will be using tools from the past and today, to fashion an instrument that will last a lifetime. After this class you may even want to learn to play your beautiful new harp!

Herbal Oils Liniments & Poultices- July 2026
Price range: $80.00 through $95.00In the morning there will be discussion and demonstration of the different methods of making herbal oils. We will make an Herbal Bug Repellent Oil and a drawing Liniment from plants that grow in the instructor's medicinal garden. We will discuss various methods of using Herbal Poultices and learn about the plants that work as healing herbals oils. Learn about Plantain, Comfrey, Jewelweed, Calendula, Yarrow, St, John's Wort, and Solomon Seal and how, when to use them. The instructor will demo how to turn the oils into a salve. Echinacea will be in bloom and we will make an Echinacea Tincture. There will be discussion of making herbal tinctures and students will learn which plants work well as tinctures.

Intro to the Japanese Blade- October 2026
Price range: $800.00 through $900.00Taught by renowned instructor and winner of the History Channel's Forged in Fire, Mace Vitale. In this 5 day intensive, students will be free to explore the processes of forging, grinding, heat treat (using clay), and polishing of blades to bring out the unique hardening lines (Hamon) prevalent in this style. Introduction to Marquetry- June 2026
Price range: $140.00 through $165.00Marquetry is the art of creating imagery using wood veneers. We will explore the creation of a simple mountain motif, which allows for enormous variations in color, shape and texture. It is easily applied to any substrate to create boxes, wall hangings and jewelry, such as the brooch pictured or the thwart of your canoe. Introduction to Scroll Saws- July 2026
Price range: $85.00 through $100.00The purpose of this course is to introduce the student who is interested in pursuing the hobby of working with the scroll saw to produce scroll work art for themselves. Their family, and their friends. The student will be introduced to the mechanics and the safe operation of the scroll saw. Students will be introduced to the many different saw blade types and cutting characteristics of each blade type to help in their selection of a blade for a particular piece of work. Additionally, students will receive instruction in three different methods of transferring a pattern to a piece of wood. Following this instruction, students will practice preparing the saw for safe operation followed by practicing the different movements required to successfully follow pattern lines while cutting a piece of wood. At the completion of the class, students will have completed a simple cat puzzle and a snowflake trivet using both exterior and interior cuts to remove material from the puzzle and the snowflake.

Jayne's Mistake- June 2026
Price range: $340.00 through $370.00The origins of this basket are unknown but lean heavily on the traditions of Cherokee patterned weaving. This is Beverly's variation on a pattern by Lyn Siler. If you have extensive weaving experience and are looking for a challenge, this is the class for you! The patterned weave will require concentration and determination to weave successfully. The base of this basket is twill woven with the patterned weave sandwiched between more twill woven rows. Students will use natural reed spokes with dyed weavers for the patterned rows to help them see the pattern as it develops. Dimensions are 13" x 13" x 3 1/2" plus handle.

Junior Adirondack Pack Basket- June 2026
Price range: $192.00 through $224.00The Junior Pack is a small decorative version of a traditional Adirondack Pack basket. This is a great size for a gift or mail basket. Multiple techniques used to include plain weave, continuous weave, scarfing weaver, and tapering the weaver. Linda will guide you with shaping as you weave to form the belly in the front while maintaining a straight back and sides. Complete with a hardwood handle, fitting the rim to fit the basket and lashing. The finishing touch; a webbing or leather harness made by Linda. Dimensions: 6" x 8" x 10" high. Leather & Cowhide Valet Tray- July 2026
Price range: $155.00 through $170.00This is an introductory class where students will learn leathercraft basics, as well as how to use various tools and techniques including, but not limited to, cutting, edge beveling and burnishing, grooving, setting hardware, and letter stamping. Lino Lab: Print Your Imagination- August 2026
$10.00After heading outdoors to gather some natural materials for inspiration, you'll create a drawing of your object that will be then transferred onto a linoleum printing plate. You'll carve your design using Speedball cutters, creating a unique stamp that can be used for whatever you can imagine. Once your design is carved, you'll create a simple journal to ink your newly carved stamp onto.
