Woven Hanging Hearts

Spend the morning crafting these lovely hanging hearts, sure to brighten your holiday decor or perfect for gift giving. The hearts are woven from hardwood maple splint and are hung from hand-dyed silk ribbon in various colors. Students will weave two large and two smaller hearts. Hanging Hardwood Splint Snowflake

Students will weave these striking snowflakes from hardwood maple and cherry wood splint. Several patterns may be woven, depending on the chosen splint. Students will weave one large 10" diameter snowflake, and two smaller 7" snowflakes, which make a beautiful grouping hung together on a tree or in a window. Hiker (Small) Adirondack Pack Basket by Linda Scherz

The Adirondack Pack Basket is one of the most recognized objects associated with the Adirondacks. Create your own pack basket patterned from the traditional Adirondack Pack Baskets. Adults and children can wear this pack. Students will weave a plain weave base with the pre-cut spokes. Then learn to continuous weave the sides of the basket, pack tight, level the top, weave a false rim, cut, and tuck, insert the wood handle, fit the rim and lash on basket. Lastly, add an adjustable webbing or leather harness secured with wood skids. This class will be fun for all weavers. This is a great intro size pack to making pack baskets. Linda will demonstrate, teach you weaving techniques and guide you while you weave your basket. Students will be using a drawknife and other sharp tools. Instructor will bring all materials to make the basket. Baskets will not be stained during class. Dimensions are 6"" x 9"" x 14"" high.

Shaker Cheese Basket

The Shakers are known for many unique designs, including the six-pointed star pattern on the bottom of their cheese baskets. Lined with muslin, the basket serves to separate the curd from the why. Today, it may serve as lovely wall décor or a table centerpiece. Students will learn to weave the base, and then build the sides with a continuous plain weave. The basket will be woven with natural colored reed.

Loom weavers used the original version however we think you will find so many possibilities for this beautiful basket. Students will weave two baskets that will be connected by a woven flat panel. Structural stays and handle will make the basket sturdy. Dyed reed will be available for students to create their own design. This is an intermediate to advanced level class. Dimensions: 26" tall x 12" wide x 6" deep.

Twizzy: A Cotton Cord Basket

Students will start with a base with pre-glued spokes. Triple twine with three colors of cotton cord in a stacking pattern, then twine with soft suede leather. The rim is accented with braided cotton cord and lashed with cotton cord. The instructor will bring all materials to make the basket. Students should wear comfortable clothing. Approximate dimensions are 5 ½" diameter x 2 ¼ - 2 7/8" H.

Diamonds in Twill

This bushel-style basket is woven on a Shaker Cathead base. Eight diamonds are revealed in the twill pattern. The basket is woven in a stop-start method, where each row is woven individually to build the pattern. Two side handles make this substantial basket functional as well as eye-catching. The basket is woven with natural and hand-dyed reed.
