Round & Round: Paper Plate Weaving- July 2026
$10.00Round and Round you'll go as you create weaving using colorful yarn and paper plate looms. Depending on the number of weavings you create, you'll be able to make a hot chocolate mug coaster, a ball and/or a pocket to keep your treasures in.

Rug Hooking with Yarn- September 2026
Price range: $170.00 through $195.00The concept of rug hooking with yarn takes on a new dimension when weaving with yarn. The choices of color and texture in the yarns do much of the work for you. Janet will bring samples of rugs she has made to introduce the concept of designing your own rugs. The pattern and wool are included in the materials cost. Saori Scarf Weaving- November 2026
Price range: $160.00 through $185.00Saori Weaving is a freestyle form of weaving. The colors and textures of the yearn are the star of this scarf. Scroll Saw Christmas Ornaments- November 2026
Price range: $130.00 through $155.00There's nothing like the beauty of the winter season in the Adirondacks! Make a holiday ornament for yourself or your loved ones. Over the course of this day students will progress from making a simple wooden Christmas ornament to one requiring the skills you will have achieved during the day. The course will include instruction on the safe use of the power scroll saw, pattern transfer, the cutting of multiple ornaments using the stacking process and the process of making interior cuts in a piece of wood using a scroll saw. Scroll Saw Puzzle Making- May 2026
Price range: $130.00 through $155.00Wooden puzzles are a great project whether you are a beginner or experienced woodworker. In this class students will learn the basics of the safe operation of a scroll saw, proper blade selection and installation, pattern transfer, proper cutting techniques and proper body positioning at the saw table. Each student will progress from learning to make moderate curves to tight curves using the scroll saw by producing, first, a wood maple leaf and progressing through more difficult patterns to a final puzzle which will require attention to detail and care in cutting. Come learn the secret tricks to ensure your puzzle is a success. It can make the perfect gift, too.

Sculpture Critters- August 2026
$10.00In this two-hour class students will create clay critters. Students will choose a critter to make with their hands and tools. Each student's interpretation will be wildly unique. Some critters will have wings, some with swirled legs, and some with patterns pressed in the air dry clays. The teacher will offer sculpting techniques, encouragement, and helpful tips.

Shaker Cathead Basket- September 2026
Price range: $155.00 through $180.00The Shaker Community, founded in New York, is known for their design aesthetic, combining form and function in simply elegant ways. This class introduces students to the Cathead base, a Shaker classic. In this form, a small, square base grows into a round basket at the diameter and height of the student's choosing. This particular technique of weaving corners produces four "feet" upon which the basket rests. This creates a raised base on the inside of the basket, allowing its contents to first fill the perimeter of the basket, and then the center. Disbursing the weight of the basket contents, first to the perimeter, serves to prevent produce from becoming bruised, and protects the center of the basket from wearing out. Students will weave a two-by-two twill pattern for both the base and the sides of the basket.

Shaker Tape Seat Weaving- May 2026
Price range: $205.00 through $230.00In the early 1800's the Shakers began weaving chair seats using colorful cotton tape onto their iconic chairs. You'll continue this tradition by weaving g a chair wit 4 seat rails using colorful cotton tape in traditional Shaker colors. Register early and choose between a solid color or two contrasting colors. Please bring a chair that has 4 seat rails with the old seat removed and any repairs and refinishing complete prior to class. If you don't have your own chair, a limited number will be available for a nominal fee. *Register by March 15 for your choice of color and width of tape. Price range: $145.00 through $165.00Chasing the sharpest edge possible has consumed Howard's time and efforts for the past 22 years. He started making knives in 1973 and has worked diligently to get blades of all types as sharp as possible with a repeatable process that can be replicated by other people. Over the years Howard has studied whetstones in museums around the world and amassed a huge study collection of rocks which have been used for various purposes by craftsmen around the world throughout time. All of Howard's sharpening work is done under magnification and he has invented tools and processes for sharpening quickly and to a keen edge. At the end of this presentation, students will have an understanding and hands on knowledge of: edge geometry, types of steel, heat treating, natural and manmade sharpening stones and options, and a better way to understand the intersection of blade steel, heat treatment,

Sheepsfoot Knife and Marlin Spike with Sheath- June 2026
Price range: $320.00 through $360.00In this class you'll learn to forge a knife featuring a sheepsfoot blade with a paracord wrapped handle, crafted from mild steel and hardened using super quench. The sheepsfoot blade, known for its straight edge and rounded tip, is ideal for clean controlled cuts without the risk of accidental punctures- perfect for slicing rope or working on confined spaces. You'll also forge a marlin spike; a pointed metal tool designed to separate rope strands and untie stubborn knots. It's an essential tool for sailors and anyone who works with lines, and it's especially useful when splicing multi-stranded ropes. Side Table- November 2026
Price range: $340.00 through $390.00This class will cover both woodworking and welding skills. Live edge slab tops will be cut and sanded. Sightseer Adirondack Pack Basket- August 2026
Price range: $395.00 through $480.00The Adirondack Pack Basket is one of the most recognized objects associated with the Adirondacks. These versatile baskets were used to carry just about everything the guides, hunters and trappers took with them into the woods. Linda will teach you her version patterned from the traditional Adirondack Pack Baskets. The Sightseer pack is a great size for teens or adult men and women. Linda will demonstrate, teach you many weaving techniques and guide you while you weave your pack basket. Students start with pre-cut spokes and do most of the weaving the first day. There will be great emphasis on shaping while weaving to create the belly on the front and the flat back. The second day students will be busy with the many finishing steps to complete the pack. Lastly, add an adjustable webbing or leather harness made by Linda and secured with skids made by students. Dimensions: 8" x 11" x 16" high. Students will be using a drawknife and other sharp tools. Leather harness is dark brown. Webbing harness color choices will be the colors available at time of class. Instructor will bring all materials to make the basket. Students should wear comfortable clothing. Baskets will not be stained during class.

Silver Metal Clay Exploration- August 2026
Price range: $227.00 through $247.00Explore the many ways that you can use silver in a metal clay formulation to create jewelry designs of your own. The newest way of working with silver is metal clay which can be shaped like clay to produce uniquely textured surfaces, resulting in durable beautiful silver jewelry. Students will learn metal clay working techniques and make pendants, earrings, charms and rings. Fresh leaves will also be used to create a silver piece of nature. Small Birch Canister- August 2026
Price range: $182.00 through $207.00Using harvested birch from the instructors property, students will stitch the paper birch canister with wax linen and attach it to a wooden base. Spinning Yarn from Wool- August 2026
$25.00Janet's woven items often start with unique one-of-a-kind hand spun yarns. Spend an evening and see how she starts with wool from a variety of sheep and adds some bamboo or sparkle to create a blend of fiber to spin into thick or thin single ply yarn. After spinning again, a simple yarn is created, or texture and coils can be added to create an "art yarn" that looks wonderful when used to weave or knit.

Spring Lakes and Waterways Photo Tour- May 2026

Stenciled Floorcloth- October 2026
Price range: $290.00 through $340.00Come and create a beautiful 2' x 3' floorcloth to enhance your home. You will learn to cut stencils or refresh your cutting skills if you have done it before. Storage Basket with Bonus- June 2026

Sunflower Mosaic- August 2026
Price range: $340.00 through $405.00Sunflowers are happy flowers, bright and colorful! Using stained glass and beads, we will be making a beautiful sunflower mosaic to take hope and display in your home. Students may draw their own design or use a provided template. Students will learn to score, cut and nip glass into shapes needed to make their mosaic and learn different techniques to shape glass. Students will then learn how to use adhesive and how to grout their mosaic.

Tapestry Weaving- April 2026
Price range: $160.00 through $185.00In this class you will learn several tapestry weaving techniques using a variety of yarns and fibers to create a unique wall hanging. The instructor will discuss a variety of loom options, from something as simple as cardboard to a loom designed specifically for tapestry weaving. The instructor will bring along a variety of yarns and materials, but you are encouraged to bring along your favorite yarns that may be in your stash. Small yardage amounts go a long way in this style of tapestry weaving. If you are a hand spinner, bring along your smooth or textured yarns. You will find a place for them in this style of tapestry weaving.
